Zacian and Zygarde have dominated the Standard format so far, with decks utilizing its strengths in almost every deck. This meta will change as Zacian rotates out of Standard – what should you do before it does?

The “pokémon tcg rotation 2022 list” is a post-rotation Standard deck for the year 2022. The deck includes cards from the new set, as well as older sets that are rotating out of standard.

In recent years, Zacian V has been one of the finest attackers in Pokemon TCG Online. TCG has gone above and beyond in the previous year to make the card super-relevant, including giving out a free Zacian V to all online players, since it is the main Pokemon for the Sword & Shield series, with Zamazenta. Due to their synergy, the card was paired with Arceus Dialga & Palkia-GX and Lucario & Melmetal-GX in the 2020/21 format. However, due to later releases, such Pokemon have been rotated out of Standard, and Zacian V decks have declined in prominence. In addition, the game has moved away from favoring Steel-type Pokemon, producing cards like Single Strike Energy that work well with Fighting and Dark-type Pokemon. I’ll walk you through a post-Rotation Zacian V deck for the 2022 Standard format of Pokemon TCG Online in this article.

Standard deck list for Pokemon TCG Online’s Zacian V

For Pokemon TCG Online, this is the Zacian V Standard deck list:

****** Deck List for the Pokémon Trading Card Game ******

##Pokémon – Level 8

* 4 Zacian V SSH 195 * 2 Zamazenta V SSH 139 * 2 Oranguru SSH 148

##40 Trainer Cards

* 4 Professor’s Research SHF 60 * 3 Marnie CPA 56 * 1 Raihan EVS 152 * 4 Metal Saucer SSH 170 * 4 Quick Ball SSH 216 * 4 Rotom Phone CPA 64 * 4 Switch SSH 183 * 2 Tool Scrapper RCL 208 * 4 Cape of Toughness DAA 160 * 2 Air Balloon SSH 156 * 4 Crystal Cave EVS 144

##12 ##Energy ##Energy ##Energy ##Ener

12 METALLURGICAL ENERGY ENERGY 8

60 total cards

Because the whole deck depends on powering Zacian V, the Pokemon roster doesn’t offer a lot of versatility (and Zamazenta V). Crobat V isn’t necessary in this deck, but you may include it if you like. The deck has Zacian V’s ability to draw cards, as well as four copies of Professor’s Research and three copies of Marnie.

The Trainer cards in this list are all required. While not all of them are directly related to your primary approach, they will undoubtedly assist you in getting out of difficult circumstances (especially Raihan).

Oranguru and Zacian V

Zacian V and Zamazenta V are your two attackers, with Zacian V taking precedence in most battles. Here’s the catch: because of his ability, you’ll only utilize Zamazenta V as an attacker in matches when you need him. Zacian V, for example, possesses a 230-damage strike for just 3 Energy. This assault has a disadvantage in that it cannot attack the next round, however Switch and/or Air Balloon can easily overcome this.

The ability of Zacian is the heart of this deck:

Intrepid Sword is a skill that allows you to be brave with your sword.

You may look through the top three cards of your deck once during your turn and attach any number of [M] Energy cards you discover to this Pokémon. Place the remaining cards in your hand. Your turn ends if you use this Ability.

It does 230 damage, which is a lot for a 2-Prizer, and it can two-shot everything in the game, even Tool Card attachments.

Controlling your deck’s top tier

Zacian V’s ability pairs nicely with Oranguru, your secondary engine, who allows you to swap a card from your hand for the top card of your deck once every turn. Oranguru will always be on your Bench, and you’ll use his ability every turn, either to draw new cards or to keep Energy at the top of your deck so you may use Intrepid Sword to connect it to your Zacian V.

Rotom Phone is an item card that has the following effect:

Look at the top five cards in your deck, select one, then reshuffle the rest of the cards. Then, on top of your deck, place the card you choose.

This card may be used to bring Energies to the top of your deck early in the game, and then Intrepid Sword can be used to power up your Zacian V. When it comes to turning on 3-Energies on turn one, no other deck compares to this one, and it’s a major advantage that compensates for the lack of a bulky VMAX or Tag Team Pokemon in your deck.

VMAX immunity and Zamazenta V

Although Zamazenta V does not do as much damage as Zacian V, it provides a crucial benefit to your deck. Zamazenta V may seem disappointing with a three-energy 130-damage strike that drains a Special Energy from your opponent. However, his ability prevents it from being harmed by VMAX Pokemon, which are used by almost all of the best decks in the Standard format. This causes most decks to not develop their Pokemon, allowing you to finish them off with your Zacian V.

Because of its low damage threshold, Zamazenta V helps your bouts continue longer, and your opponent, with their VMAX in play, will be seeking for methods to grab your Benched Pokemon instead. However, until they start powering up their secondary Pokemon, such as Inteleon or Crobat V, which aren’t even designed to be attackers, they won’t be able to harm your Zamazenta V. Zacian V can now one-shot those Pokemon, making this combo incredibly strong.

The only drawback is that your opponent may now use Boss’s Orders to target your Zacian V, so be cautious and timing your assaults appropriately according on how many Prize cards you have remaining.

Other noteworthy cards

The other two Item cards you’ll need often are Metal Saucer and Cape of Toughness. Metal Saucer allows you to connect Metal Energy from your discard pile to any of your Metal Pokemon, accelerating their Energy even further. This effect, like Intrepid Sword’s effect, does not operate on Special Energy, which is why this deck exclusively employs basic Metal Energy. Cape of Toughness gives your Pokemon +50 HP (excluding Pokemon-GX, who aren’t used in this deck), this is very important for Zacian V, who can now reach 270 HP.

Crystal Cave is the single Stadium card in this deck, and it allows both players to recover 30 damage from their Metal or Dragon-type Pokemon, allowing your Pokemon to endure even longer. If you’re concerned about Crystal Cave working against you, keep in mind that there aren’t many Metal or Dragon-types in the meta right now, and the card won’t be effective for your opponent in most matchups. It will also assist you in discarding your opponent’s Path to the Peak, in addition to its direct impact.

Endnote

One of the deck’s strongest features is the lack of 3-Prizers, which means your opponent must earn at least three knockouts to win. In the current meta, when VMAX Pokemon are in almost every deck and you only need to knock out two of them to win the game, not many decks can achieve this. This Zacian V variant is definitely not as powerful as the ADP or Melmetal variants, but it is still a formidable opponent in recent Standard events. With 230 damage and VMAX immunity, Pokemon TCG Online has ensured that the card remains relevant for longer, and this deck will be around for another year and is a solid choice for the 2022 format. The cards are also reasonably priced on the trade lists right now, so you should have no trouble getting the whole deck.
