Helen Nkwocha is a Nigerian-born actress and model. She was born on the 30th of December, 1988 in Lagos, Nigeria.
Helen Nkwocha is a Nigerian actress. She has appeared in films such as The Conjuring 2 and Black Panther.
Tvoroyrar Boltfelag’s last two matches have been managed by Helen Nkwocha.
Helen Nkwocha was motivated by her desire to become a professional football coach, so she sold her house and moved on a houseboat to finance her goal.
She could never have envisioned herself as the first female coach of a top-flight men’s team in Europe in her wildest fantasies.
Tvoroyrar Boltfelag is one of the Faroe Islands’ oldest clubs.
However, as they neared the conclusion of a disappointing season in which they had just three points, they turned to Nkwocha, who had been working as a youth coach at the club, to lead them through the last six games.
“I didn’t think twice,” the former police officer from London tells Sport.
“Because they are responding to my gender, people’s reactions are not the same as mine.” However, I am accustomed to being a woman. It’s not something I’m unfamiliar with.
“And the fact that I’m collaborating with male actors? I’ve dealt with a greater number of male gamers than females. Yes, working at this level is a different experience. Working with male athletes, on the other hand, is nothing new to me.”
When Sport met with Nkwocha in 2015, she was on the verge of embarking on a trip that would take her to a variety of locations, including China and the United States, in search of employment.
Opportunities are hard to come by for someone whose roots are not at the top of the game.
“It’s been difficult since coaching is such a competitive field,” says the 45-year-old.
“You have to be persistent, and the houseboat was the ideal method for me to save money for the courses I needed to do and then to be accessible to teach since money is scarce at this level.”
“It’s required a lot of financial sacrifice, and then you move around in terms of location because you’re searching for a chance to grow, develop, and learn.”
Nkwocha was working in Chicago when she heard about the Faroe Islands position through a friend.
With Covid ready to make its presence known, she thought the role’s security and breadth were too excellent to pass up.
She’d never visited the Faroe Islands before.
“It’s like being in a storybook,” she adds. “It’s stunning, maybe one of the most stunning locations I’ve ever seen.”
“There aren’t many people here – we have a population of 2,000 – and many of the games require taking the boat and then driving to the sites. It’s also extremely windy, and the ball is often in the air, making it a difficult location to play football.”
Nkwocha has failed to stop TB’s losing streak in her two matches as caretaker manager. Despite having a player sent off, they only lost 1-0 at the weekend.
Nkwocha will remain working on it until the end of the year, putting off any ideas about what the future may bring.
In any event, she doesn’t have a lot of free time to think about her future.
She had just finished her ‘day’ job of teaching some of TB’s lower age groups when Sport talked with her.
Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, does not have to educate kindergarten children as well as adults, in my opinion.
Nkwocha flashes a broad grin.
“Well, I’m not being humorous,” she adds, “but if you watch the sessions, you may think Helen isn’t either.”
