Elyon, a game that is currently in pre-alpha testing, has begun the process of pre-downloading. The game will be released on October 14th with character creation on October 15th.
Elyon raised a few eyebrows yesterday when Krafton and Kakao stated that pre-download and character creation plans had “struck a bit of a hitch” due to a “backend platform problem” that would force a two-day delay for both movements, but the headstart and launch would not be impacted. According to the complete launch schedule published this morning, it seems that pre-downloading will not need the whole 24 hours.
Pre-downloading has already started (on Steam for pre-purchase gamers, on Kakao for everyone) as of this morning. Character creation will take place from 10 a.m. EDT on October 14th to the early hours of October 17th.
“During Early Character Creation, only one server per region (EU, NA) will be accessible,” Kakao explains. “During this time, you will be able to create up to three characters and name them – please note that while you will be able to name your characters, we will not be reserving them to your account, and they may be released in the future if certain conditions are met (e.g., a long period of inactivity).”
Headstart is still set to debut on October 17th at 8 a.m. EDT, followed by the full free-to-play launch on October 20th at 10 a.m. If you want to double-check for your own area, Kakao has a timezone cheat sheet in there. It’s also worth noting that there’s a queue management strategy in place.
“The service will start with one server per area; if the player queue becomes too lengthy, we will open additional servers proportionately to the length of the wait.” Nonetheless, we’re working hard to limit the number of servers to a bare minimum and each set’s concurrent player capacity as high as possible without sacrificing speed.”
